I gave you some tools in the form of three sets of three words to help define clarity for yourself, for your relationships and for your business. In upcoming sessions, we will be talking about Productivity, Courage and Influence. Stay tuned for more on these topics.
The purpose of today’s session is to understand how much energy you have each and every day. The highest performers have lots of energy and vibrancy and bring that to their Goals and to their life. It is essential to have a lot of energy and endurance in order to chase and accomplish your dreams.
Let me explain why this topic is so important to me. After I had a heart attack in May of 2020, I found myself with less energy than usual. I suppose no one would fault me for this, and that it was usual for someone recovering from a heart attack. But then I was listening to his talk by Brendon Burchard, and he said something and made an analogy which was so relevant to me. He talked about how power plants do not store any energy. It is the responsibility of the power plant to generate energy. And then a light went off in my head and I realized that it was up to me to generate more energy and that it was not just going to come along and drop itself in my brain.
Just as power plants need fuel to generate energy, so do our bodies need fuel to generate energy for ourselves. There are several main factors an analyzing our energy potential. These factors are nutrition, exercise, Wellness, and sleep. It is important to have regular habits in order to support these factors. Let me explain a few of them:
Regarding exercise it's important to walk, outside, at least 30 minutes a day. It's also important to have 2 60 minute cardio activities per week. It is also important to have two 20 to 40 minutes intense workouts per week. You should always consult with your doctor or your fitness advisor in order to create these activities according to your health and capabilities.
Regarding nutrition you should eat a whole food diet which is heavy in organic plant based foods. I would recommend that you have a consultation with a nutritionist in order to help you with your diet plan. You should be tested for any allergies to food. Drink health shakes for breakfast or for in between meal snacks. Drink three to five liters of water per day. Avoid all sugary drinks, alcohol and caffeine, although green tea is OK. Limit white breads and heavily processed starches and carbohydrates.
You should have between eight and nine hours of sleep every night. Many people like to take a nap in the middle of the afternoon or meditate at different times of the day to make up the difference. You can use the Release Meditation Technique which you can find on YouTube. Or you can use an app like Headspace or CALM on your phone in order to meditate.
Remember, if you don't have any energy you need to generate some. Stay tuned to my blog for more tips and tricks regarding energy.
